Description

Exemestane, sold under the research designation Aromasin, is a steroidal, irreversible aromatase inhibitor belonging to the suicide inhibitor class of compounds.
It functions by permanently binding to the aromatase enzyme (CYP19A1), effectively preventing the conversion of androgens (testosterone, androstenedione) into estrogens (estradiol, estrone).

In research models, Exemestane is used to investigate estrogen suppression, androgen–estrogen balance, and pituitary-gonadal axis feedback mechanisms.
Because it covalently inactivates aromatase rather than temporarily inhibiting it, Exemestane provides a unique platform for studying irreversible enzyme inhibition kinetics and post-androgen recovery models.

It is often compared to Letrozole and Anastrozole, but differs mechanistically as a steroidal aromatase inactivator rather than a non-steroidal competitive inhibitor.

Intended Use

This product is intended for laboratory research use only.
It is not for human consumption, diagnostic, or therapeutic applications.
All handling should be performed by qualified professionals in a controlled research environment.
