Description
KPV is a bioactive tripeptide fragment derived from alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), consisting of Lysine–Proline–Valine.
It is a potent anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory compound that operates through melanocortin receptor signaling, primarily the MC1R receptor subtype.
In preclinical studies, KPV has shown the ability to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokine production (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6), reduce NF-κB activation, and enhance epithelial barrier integrity.
Its small molecular size and oral stability make it a model peptide for research into gut inflammation, autoimmune modulation, and epithelial repair mechanisms.
When administered orally, KPV demonstrates notable resistance to enzymatic degradation, allowing it to be used in research exploring localized and systemic anti-inflammatory signaling in intestinal and dermal tissues.
