Description

Cerebrolysin is a multi-component peptide preparation derived from enzymatically treated porcine brain tissue, containing a rich mixture of neurotrophic, neuroprotective, and neuroplasticity-promoting peptide fragments. Its mechanisms of action as described in research include:

  • Promoting neuronal survival and sparing after injury via anti-apoptotic and antioxidant pathways (e.g., reduced oxidative stress, decreased lipid peroxidation)

  • Enhancing synaptic plasticity, neurite outgrowth, and potentially reducing pathogenic protein burdens (e.g., amyloid-β in Alzheimer’s models)

  • Modulating multiple processes in the injured or degenerating brain, including neurotrophism, neuroplasticity, neuroprotection, and neurogenesis.

  • Because of its undefined mixture nature, it serves as a broad-spectrum model reagent for investigating complex neuro-repair and neuro-regenerative peptide interventions rather than a single-target peptide.

Intended Use

This product is intended for laboratory research use only.
It is not for human consumption, diagnostic, or therapeutic applications.
All handling should be performed by qualified professionals in a controlled research environment.

Key Research Applications

  • Investigation of neurotrophic and neuroprotective peptide signaling in models of brain injury (stroke, TBI), neurodegeneration (Alzheimer’s disease, dementia), and neural repair.

  • Studies on synaptic regeneration, neurite outgrowth, and network connectivity in cortical/hippocampal systems.

  • Research on modulation of oxidative stress, apoptosis, and mitochondrial dysfunction in neural and glial cell populations.

  • Analysis of complex peptide mixture effects on neuro-inflammation, neuroplasticity, and repair-oriented signaling pathways.
