Description

IGF-1 DES(1–3) is a truncated analog of human insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), lacking the first three N-terminal amino acids.
This modification prevents binding to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), resulting in a markedly higher bioactive potency—up to 10-fold greater than native IGF-1 in some experimental systems.

IGF-1 DES(1–3) activates the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) to initiate PI3K/Akt and MAPK signaling cascades, promoting cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival.
Due to its shorter half-life and local action profile, it is especially suited for studies on localized tissue growth, muscle regeneration, and cellular anabolic signaling where transient receptor activation is desired.
